In the center top you can see Fortica. The Byzantines built a citadel here in the 6th century, and the Venetians began construction of the present fortress in 1278. It was strengthened in 1551, which may have saved the lives of Hvar’s population, who sheltered here in 1571 when the Turks sacked their town. The Austrians renovated it in the 19th century, adding barracks. Inside there’s a collection of ancient amphorae recovered from the seabed, and a terrace cafe.
We had a couple of days in Venice on our way to Croatia and was up early to get the skyline and the Grand Canal.
Old town of Heidelberg as seen from one of the parapets of Heidelberg Castle. The Neckar River in the background.
Lower Oak Creek is south of Sedona, AZ and there is a hiking trail from the highway to the creek. I took some photos in the area 4 years ago and went back earlier this month and found this old sycamore tree still hanging on.
All that was left of this old tractor was the shaft and the wheel.
Like many of you I’ve read the pros and cons of WordPress.com vs WordPress.org. I’m still not sure which is best for me but the free trails make it pretty easy to try things out for a month to see how it works. I have had my own domain for awhile so a few days ago I selected Bluehost to create and use johnferebeephoto.com.
One of the big disadvantages of WordPress.com is the inability to commercialize your site. I have no interest in becoming a professional blogger. I have a job that I really enjoy. Photography is a hobby and I’m very serious about it but I would like to generate some income to offset some of the costs .
I’m going to run the two sites parallel during the trail period meaning if I post a photo here I’ll post it on the new site too.
I would like feedback from any of you out there. Have you’ve tried something similar? If so, what results have you had. Are there better ways to go about this?
If you follow this site please follow the other and let me hear from you.
