This farm is located in Guadalupe, CA and is still used for crops but the house, barn, and equipment has been abandoned for many years.
This shot was taken into the sun and with a long exposure trying to get some drama.
The lighthouse was established in 1890 and this photo is of the lighthouse keepers home. The site is assessable by trolly from the lighthouse parking lot near Avila Bay and is a very popular tour. It is run by a board and docents. They close at 5:00PM and I’ve asked several times to provide a sunset tour for photographers. That hasn’t happened yet so all we get are these sunny day shots.
Shell Creek is an hour drive northeast of me and in the spring it is a landscape photographers paradise. This year, with the lack of rain, it was very different. Normally this area would be full of yellow, blue, and red wild flowers and water would be running in the creek. You can see that nature tried very hard. I hope to post a comparison post this time next spring to show the difference.
Out early this morning to capture the barn you see in the right of this photo. While taking the gear out of the car I heard the Amtrak coming. I was able to get the tripod and camera in place as it went by from right to left. Not something I would have planed to do in advance but with the train and sun hitting each other at that moment I thought it was worthy of a post.
Early morning sun is painting the clouds a little pink in this long exposure shot.
My last post was taken between storms. This morning is was raining and blowing pretty good. Pismo Rock is a place I go to often looking for different ways to capture it. This is what it looked like early this morning. I have never seen the tide and wave action bring the water this high around the rock.
At long last we got some rain last night with more to come on Friday and Saturday. This morning I wanted to see what the ocean looked like. Had to wade to this outcropping to get the angle I wanted. Tried different things but long exposure worked the best. This was taken with a ND filter at 12sec.
Taken from a mountain top South of Guadalupe, CA yesterday morning. The fog actually cover the ocean to the left and Pismo Beach.
This small creek runs out of the foothills into the ocean at Montana de Oro State Park. The park is southwest of Los Osos, CA.
