Foggy Sentinel

I took my Mamyia 7 out for a early morning walk yesterday and thought I would post this for a change of pace from all the recent Palouse photos.

There is a lot of private property on the central coast but there are also many areas which gives you access if you don’t mind a little walking. Most are trails or paved walkways and a few are simple overlooks.  This particular access trail ended here at the fence line.

Death Cloud

I was watching this cloud form and was fascinated by it’s shape.  The title “Death Cloud” jumped into my mind.  Not sure why but maybe from watching too many Star Trek’s when young.

Pelican (Pelecaniformes)

There are numerous sea birds to watch and photograph here on the coast of California.  Normally a zoom with auto focus and the servo mode would be the best choice.  However, considering the theme of this blog, a 5D Mark II and 200MM wouldn’t be appropriate.  So one has to be patient, zone focus, and be quick when using a 35MM manual lens to get birds in flight.  Occasionally it works out like this morning at Shell Beach.
